Samsung TV Won’t Connect to WiFi: Find the Cause
First check whether the TV cannot see your network, cannot join it, or joins without internet. Each symptom points to a different part of the connection.
Quick Fix
Test the same WiFi on a phone beside the TV. If the phone also struggles there, check network coverage before resetting the television.

Choose the right starting point
A missing network name is different from a rejected password or an internet outage. Record the exact message rather than changing several settings at once. Samsung menus vary by model and year; use your TV’s manual if the names below differ.
1. Check the network list
On supported models, Samsung lists All Settings > Connection > Network > Open Network Settings > Wireless. Some models put Network under General.
- Look for your network in the wireless list.
- If it appears, carefully check the password when joining.
- If it does not appear, check the TV’s manual for supported WiFi bands. Some older models support only 2.4 GHz.
2. Compare signal and devices
Use the phone test to decide whether to focus on the TV or the network. A phone’s signal indicator is a useful comparison, not a precise measurement of the TV’s reception.
- Stand beside the TV with a phone connected to the same network.
- If coverage is weak, test with the router closer when practical.
- If several devices cannot get online, investigate the router or provider connection.
3. Test a different connection
A second connection can narrow the problem. Check your mobile data allowance before using a hotspot; streaming may consume a lot of data.
- If available and compatible, see whether the TV detects a phone hotspot.
- Alternatively test a supported wired Ethernet connection.
- If another connection works, ask the router provider about the home network’s compatibility or restrictions.
Still not working?
If the TV detects no networks after the model-specific checks in Samsung’s support guide, contact Samsung. Provide the model number, exact symptom and comparison results. Avoid a full factory reset as a first step; it removes preferences and may require setting up apps again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my phone connect but my TV does not?
They can have different WiFi capabilities and reception. Check the TV’s supported bands and the signal at its location.
Should I change DNS immediately?
Changing DNS is not a sensible first response when the TV cannot even find or join WiFi. Identify the failed stage first.
